Building a future that's more diverse, equitable & inclusive

In lieu of our regular Anti-racism Committee Meeting, we'll be participating in the University of Exeter, Department of Geography's and Cultural and Historical Geographies Research Group's webinar with Dr. Max Liboiron author of Pollution is Colonialism. Focusing on plastic pollution, the book models an anticolonial scientific practice associated with Métis concepts of land, ethics, and relations, and demonstrates that anticolonial science is not only possible, but it is currently being practiced.

Panelists will discuss the book’s implications for practicing “good science” and consider what Liboiron’s work means for their own practice. The webinar is 90 minutes in duration and will include a Q&A session with attendees. Please join us!

About EHSC's Anti-Racism Committee

In January 2021, the UC Davis Environmental Health Sciences Center's Community Engagement Core (CEC) submitted an anti-racism proposal to its leadership as a springboard for action. We now have monthly anti-racism meetings where discussions and collaborations around diversity, equity and inclusion happen.

All member scientists, grantees and staff of the Environmental Health Sciences Center are welcome to attend. Please contact Shosha Capps (sacapps@ucdavis.edu) if you have questions or would like to get involved.
