Placenta and fetal brain share a neurodevelopmental disorder, DNA methylation, as a research profile in a mouse model of prenatal PCB.
Dr. Janine LaSalle & Dr. Rebecca Schmidt are co-presenting this month's science seminar.
Dr. LaSalle is a Professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at UC Davis. LaSalle studies the role of epigenetics in human autism-spectrum disorders. The clinical applications of her research include understanding the pathogenesis of the neurodevelopmental disorders autism, Rett syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Angelman syndrome, and Dup15q syndrome. Dr. Rebecca Schmidt is a molecular epidemiologist advancing an understanding of how early life environmental exposures interact with genetic susceptibility and molecular mechanisms to influence neurodevelopmental outcomes of children, with a primary interest in autism spectrum disorders.
