Innovations in Air Quality and Health Advocacy in the San Joaquin Valley

Join us for Sarah Sharpe's Science Seminar on "Innovations in Air Quality and Health Advocacy in the San Joaquin Valley."

Sarah’s journey has always been rooted in education, community, and the environment. After earning her B.A. in Communications and Latin American Iberian Studies at UC Santa Barbara, she joined the New York City Teaching Fellows program, completing her M.A. in Spanish at Brooklyn College. But her heart pulled her back to California, where she dedicated herself to advancing environmental health and equity.

In California, Sarah served in leadership roles at the U.S. EPA Region 9 and the California Public Utilities Commission. In 2023, she rejoined CCAC as Deputy Executive Director—after a previous stint years before as Associate Director—bringing the totality of her experience and vision guiding policy and programs addressing extreme weather and community needs.

A proud southeast Fresno native, Sarah knows firsthand the challenges of asthma—shared by her partner and son—and is committed to creating healthier, more connected communities for all.
