Community-based participatory research (CBPR) emphasizes working with community members as full and equal partners in all phases of the scientific process. Scientists using the CBPR model say it increases the relevance, rigor and reach of research, helping to translate science into actionable public policy that makes a meaningful difference in the day-to-day lives of community members.
