Impacts of Wildfire on Soil Biogeochemistry, Water Quality, and Links to Human Health.

Dr. Jasquelin  Peña is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Faculty Scientist in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She investigates reactions that occur at water-microbe-mineral interfaces, especially those that mediate the transformation of contaminants, carbon, and nutrients. Dr. Peña is interested in research at the intersection of natural and engineered ecosystems and aims to advance both fundamental understanding and sustainable solutions to address soil and water quality issues. Dr. Peña was the 2022 UC Davis EHSC Scholar and received a 2021 Pilot Project Award to study The Impact of Wildfire on Water Resources and Human Health.
